1st Birthday :)

Today is the little guy`s first birthday, and he had a super fun party. We had lots of fun food, and he had his first taste of cake, which he loved. He was super good and is lucky to have so many wonderful people in his life. I hope that the next year goes as well as the past year has.

Monday Blues

Today is my last Monday as a SAHM, next week I will be back to work. I have been thinking all day how I don't think that I will be able to get everything done. Today I have done so much housework, which seems never ending, and next week I will have even less time. It makes me so nervous and anxious to know that 4 days a week I won't really have anytime to do housework between 10 hour days at work and commuting to and from work on the bus.

One week....

One more week till Oliver's first birthday. We went out and picked up some things today for the party. The treat bags are almost ready, and I am loving them. I put a puppet, a colouring book, a treat and cool crayon holders in each. Made by a local mom, http://buddingbabyboutique.weebly.com/crayon-holders.html and I think they are really fun :) So the plan is a carnival theme, and we have lots of fun planned. There is going to be homemade caramel corn, snow cones, doughnuts, chili cheese dogs. Toys and a video for the little ones and Carnival Games (Wii) for the adults. I'm super excited for his first birthday and I'm hoping all goes well  :)

The Party planning continues

The responses are coming in from the invites we sent out and I was working on the treat bags today. It is so hard to believe that the Bubs is almost 1 year old. We sold his bassinet on kijiji today and I was really sad to see it go. It's silly, he hasn't used it since he was 3 months old and it was just taking up space, but it reminded me that he is not small anymore.

Bub's first full day

Yesterday was Oliver's first day at the sitters, and I couldn't have been happier. I spent the night before awake all night in pain, and being able to drop him off at the sitters and go to the walk in clinic without having to worry about him was awesome. Turns out I am having problems with my gallbladder, but at least I have medication now for when there is pain. Oliver had a wonderful time, and was super good. He seems to really enjoy going and playing with kids around his own age. I may not be looking forward to going back to work, but it makes it easier knowing that Oliver is in good hands and having fun. :)

The countdown begins...

So I sadly checked how long before I go back to work and timeanddate.com has let me know that there are 19 days. I feel so unprepared to go back and so sad that I won't be the one looking after my little one every day. At least I am going back 4 days a week to let me be with him 3 full days.

The path to walking....

Oliver took a big step today on the path to walking. He tried for the first time today to actually stand without holding on to anything. He can't do it for very long, but every time he tried today he got a little better. I am so proud of the little guy! It is amazing to watch him as he learns things, even the smallest things. He is finally learning that he can put his hand into the snack trap and get out the treats within. He is understanding when I give him the spoon after I feed him that the bowl end belongs in his mouth. Lastly he has become an expert stair climber. I can't wait to see what new things he learns this week.

Oliver's favourite TV time

We are raising a total geek. Oliver loves Star Trek themes, and his favourite 3 minutes of TV in a day are the end theme for Star Trek TNG and the opening of Star Trek Voyager that comes right after TNG. He laughs and gets more excited for that then he does for anything on Treehouse.

Superbowl Cake

Today's project was a Superbowl Cake to send into my husband's work. I love making fun baked goods, and they are even better when they leave our house so I don't feel like I have to eat them all. Not too sure when I will make the time to do things like this when I go back to work. It really has been one of the benefits of having time off.

The second half day at the sitters was a success. The little guy had a great time playing and was excited to see me pick him up. He came crawling right for me as soon as he heard my voice. It was one of those moments that make me so glad to be a Mom. My morning without him had mixed results, it felt like I had accidentally left him somewhere as I am so used to having him with me. On the plus side I went used clothes shopping and got everything I will need with plenty of time before I go back to work. Next week we will be trying a whole day at the sitters, I'm hoping that goes as well as today has.

The journey back to work.....

So I am starting to get prepared to go back to work after maternity leave. I have decided to write about the whole process here; the good, the bad and the totally ugly. Tomorrow marks the second day that my little guy will be going to the babysitters for a half day to adjust to Mommy going back to work. More over for me to adjust to not being just his Mommy every day and spending my time just doing things for him. The first day was nerve wracking for me, and I suspect that tomorrow will be no different.
